Joyner Park

Joyner Park thumbnailJoyner Park is a wonderful 90+ acre facility that combines passive and active recreation. Opened in 2003, Joyner Park was developed using a generous 32 acre donation of land from Mr. Carroll Joyner, and a North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund grant. The facility includes a 2/5 of a mile paved walking trail and 1.5 mile natural trail covering rolling hills and providing an overlook of the westernmost group of cypress trees in North Carolina. Joyner Park is situated along the Tar River and has enacted Conservation Easements along its banks to assure development does not impact the adjacent waters.

Joyner Park has a 100 yard soccer field that is used in the town’s recreation league. Prior permission must be granted in order to use the field for non town activities. The facility also includes a wonderful playground area for all ages, including swing sets.

Joyner Park also offers two spacious picnic shelters. The shelters are first come, first serve. However, shelters may be reserved by filling out an application form which may be obtained at the Town Hall.

Joyner Park is located on W. River Rd. approximately ½ mile from the intersection with S. Main St.
